LEWWIS SPENCE admits he had to leave Crystal Palace for Wycombe Wanderers in order to progress his career.
The midfielder, 20, rejected a new contract to this week follow former Palace boss Peter Taylor to Wycombe for regular football.
SPENCE worked his way up through Palace's Academy to become a mainstay in the reserves, but after making just three appearances couldn't break into the first team.
"It's great for me to come here to get some league experience," said SPENCE, who had been with Palace since the age of 13. "I've seen Wycombe do well in the league last year and I want to be part of that. I want to go one better and get promotion.
"It's a whole new start for me but I'm looking forward to it. I've got ambitions to play in the Championship or higher and I think I can achieve that.
"At the moment though I haven't got the experience, I know that. That's why I've come here and I'm going to work as hard as possible."
